(d) High cleanliness, no pests and diseases, no pesticides, safe and pollution-free products, as well as high quality. (e) Food can be produced on non-arable land via plant factory and vertical farming. (f) Plant factory has high control precision of environmental factors and fast plant growth. (g) It is suitable for the application of LED light source, which greatly improves efficiency of resource and energy utilization.

Ionic liquids: ILs have many advantageous properties as life activity solvent to transfer energy and nutrients: 

(1) Low melting point. Many ILs are liquid at very low temperature and can therefore be utilized in harsh cold areas. (2) Non-volatile or extremely low volatile. (3) High thermal and chemical stability. (4) Favourable solubility in inorganic and organic chemicals. This leads to that ILs can have good properties to dissolve nutrients. (5) Chemical and functional groups can be designed to form task specific ILs. In theory, there are several exa various ILs that can be synthesized in the laboratory. This means that we can design and synthesize ILs according to our requirements. (6) Many ILs are environmentally friendly.
